Just out of curiosity, the old 303 appears to be making a comeback and starting to cost big dollars in some cases.

Their getting pricy in good condition... not that long ago you could still pick one up as new, still wrapoed in its wax paper. My LGS seems to get a fair few through the doors around the $200 mark in poor condition up to $1200 for a very tidy one with the right numbers on it.
I'll definitely grab one some day.

99% of sporterised military rifles look like s**t but yours is in the 1% that doesn't.
I'm mentally saving an imagine of that but in 45-70 with open sights.

Similar deal with old cars, 25 years ago when you sent that old XD Falcon off to sims for $50 you never would of thought it would be worth $40k if you left it in the shed covered in an inch of dust with the worn out smokey 302 that was expensive the run back then still under the bonnet.

SMLE's are pretty much the same, everybody had one, abused it or cut it up into a crap looking and shooting hunting rifle before getting rid of it for nothing.
Now good condition unfucked with ones are selling for overs.

I did it by myself, cost me 25 dollars for the parts, top wood, ring(to hold the top wood on the receiver end) and middle barrel band, cut the groove to fix the barrel band, that's easy and cost efficient
the barrel looks thicker maybe because I cut the barrel to 17 inch, so it looks fat
