Anyone have any experience with owning one of these?
Looking at getting one for SSAA cowboy lever action shoot at my range.
It will be in .357mag with 20" barrel in stainless. Cheers.

I bought one off a member here a couple months ago.
It's a nice rifle but I really haven't done enough with it to be giving an opinion, I like it so far.

I've owned one for about 40 years. It had some issues (excessive headspace) but was fixed under warranty and hasn't missed a beat since.

The gunsmith at my local loves to rant about rossi 92's. Sounds to me they are a bit of a lottery, some are really good and some are terrible. He says spare parts don't even fit the badly built ones without alot of modification.

But that seems to be the story with alot of firearms today so I'd still buy one. I like the stainless trappers, but the little safety thing they put on the bolt fustrates me.

This is a good review from ozzie reviews

Western action shoots at relatively large , close targets. It's more about speed than accuracy. Light loads and fast cycling is the norm. So long as it will cycle fast and be reliable, that is all that is required. Like has been said above, there are good ones and there are some bad ones, it's a lottery.

I'd buy another in a heart beat if I had a need for one. My 44 mag is an awesome rifle and accurate too.

Probably look a bit out of place at a Western Action match where they play cowboy and indian dress-ups! :sarcasm:

Too small feels like a toy, prefer a Marlin

I have owned three and still have one, good rifles and appear to be well past the quality issues reported years back.
The .38 / .357 is particularly versatile if you hand load, hot .357" loads and the skinny butt plate make a recoil pad desirable, lace up or velcro stock boots are available ex USA.
"The Rossi Rifleman" website is an excellent resource.
Rossi are apparently to release a production run in .454 Casull.

Just had a good look at one at my gunshop. Overall quality looked very good. Nothing wrong with fit and finish. Really smooth action straight from the box. A tad small for my liking but the Marlin there was similar in size. I will probably get it. It was stamped "made in Brazil by cbc" anyone know what cbc stands for? Cheers

CBC essentially stands for Brazilian cartridge company. My father has an old CBC shotgun that is impressively well built.
I didn't realise that was who built rossi guns.
I'm pretty sure magtech ammo is owned by cbc also

Hi
I have two Rossi's M92
The first one I bought was 2nd hand,in 44 mag with a 24 inch barrel half round/half octagonal, the owner had done work to it for a smoother action and feeding,I was told it was a cowboy gun he used to use it in,it is a very nice gun, that I have used to shoot a mob of goats and pigs a few years back, while my mates where loading there bolt actions,I was still shooting,in the end they bought one each as well for the following year.
I have heard you have to "polish" them up a bit,but my second one I got in 2008 in 454 Casull, only needed a few burrs taken off the bolt and still going.
Here are a few pics of mine

Sorry about the 44 Mag pic,it was one of the times I tried to fix a photo and it did not come out that well :D
I like my Rossi's,they are well made and fun to use shooting at game or targets, well worth it.
:drinks:
Cheers

Just a quick note,my Rossi 454 came with a black varnished stock, but I could see the nice wood underneath,so I decided to sand it all back and coat it and the pic up top is the results :)
Cheers
