Finally purchased my first centerfire rifle.

I've been shooting with my two 22LR rifles since I got my firearms license a couple years go, a Weihraugh HW60 and a JM stamped Marlin 39A, both have been great but it was time to upgrade to a centerfire. I could have just gone out and purchased an LA102 or Tikka T3 and I probably would have been perfectly happy, but I wanted something a bit more interesting, a bit less common. I kept watching the classifieds for a few months until it finally popped up and I just had to have it.

The perfect partner for my 39A, a JM stamped 1981 pre-safety Marlin 336 Texan in .30-30 Winchester. :D

I should have it in about a week or so. Hopefully I can get it out to the range at some point, but I can't see it happening anytime soon with all this covid stuff happening here in Vic at the moment. Should give me heaps of time to give it a thorough cleaning though.

Well done. Any JM Marlin is pretty well sought after.

Looks clean enough already.

Good taste in rifles. I've got a Weihrauch HW66 and it shoots ragged holes at 50m. My other .22 is a Winnie lever 9422.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty excited. Hoping to get myself into reloading now, always found it interesting.

Good choice - way more interesting than any bolt action .223s and .308s!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Good work getting the early model, marlin had a period of quality dramas for a few years there when they were bought out by Remington and the advice was go older or very recent to get a good one.

Nice. I have a marlin 30-30 dark series sitting in my safe that I'm yet to fire. Once all this virus stuff is done i can't wait to shoot it.
