AR grip for big hands.

Hi All,

I just put my Tikka T3 in an MDT LSS XL Gen2 chassis.

Awesome!

The length of pull is perfect for me at just over 15" with all of the spacers in. I have big hands and always struggle with trigger placement. The grip is about 3/4" to far forward on the MDT. I have to 2nd joint the trigger or scrunch my trigger finger.

**********I should probably acknowledge that MDT put the grip in the right place and I am too long to fit it. I have this problem with every gun. And other stuff. **********
I need a non beaver tail AR grip that will move my hand back 3/4" .

Does anyone have any recommendations? What do I need and where can I get it?
Regards,

Jarhead

I've tried lots of different grips, including adjustable ones. The largest is probably my FAB one, but I'd have to hunt up a model number.
You could make a spacer with a piece of aluminium, screw that to the chassis, then screw the grip to it.
I did carve one out of pine a few years back in an attempt to better fit my messed up right hand, they are pretty simple to do.

I can see why you can't (without modification) use a "beavertail" grip on your MDT Chassis. Like you, I have large hands.

The largest I've tried is the "Sierra Precision." I have one kicking around here somewhere...

https://www.brownells.com.au/index.php? ... t_id=63631

The Sierra grip is fat, particularly at upper right... it drives your trigger finger outward. See here:

You have to trim the beavertsil off to fit the LSS chassis.

Thanks Guys!

Good info. Kicking the gift horse right in the teeth.....I should probably mention I am left handed. I'll need an ambidextrous or left hand grip. The sierra precision looks great but I don't think that would work well for a south paw.

Being a lefty usually makes things hard to get. But sometimes you get lucky and the shop owner wants to get rid of the last piece of left hand stuff that has been hanging around gathering dust for years and you can get a steal.

Funny you mention carving a timber one up Bladeracer. That thought went through my head too. I also thought about 3d printing one. But I like the rubberised feel of the MDT grip and want to keep that. I would also be worried about the grip strength and would be stressing about dropping the rifle everything I picked it up. Don't need that head traffic. I am sure what I need is out there- just need to find it and get it in the mail. Bonus if it is covered in dust and I can successfully convince the salesman I am the only "big handed-non beavertail- AR style grip-left handed-rifle owner" on the planet and he is lucky I am there to free up the shelf space in his shop for something that will make money. LOL.
Regards,

Jarhead

You might have mentioned that you're left-handed!

Check out "Ergo Grips." https://www.ergogrips.net/product-categ ... ips-ar-15/

I've never owned or tried one, but they make some fat, ambidextrous grips.

I've got an MDT vertical grip on my lap mag. They are a huge grip which slides back for big hands.

So, I wound up putting the original AR grip back on the gun as it would not fit in the safe with the adjustable one. That's what I get for putting 3 1/2 guns in a 3 gun safe.

I listed the adjustable AR grip on EBAY and got a message from ebay saying my Assault weapon accessory contravenes the eBay rules and the listing has been taken down.

Sooooooo.....I am reluctant to trouble the moderators by listing it here.........BUT- if somebody who wants a basically new adjustable MDT AR grip for a good price PM's me who would know?
