Identifying type of Tikka T3X

Post by duddley75 » 08 Sep 2020, 5:20 pm

So I am looking at a 2nd hand Tikka from a private seller.

The seller is unsure what type of Tikka T3X it is.

It has a 22inch SS barrel with synthetic stock

From my research this brings the list down to a T3X Lite or T3X Superlite. There doesn't appear to be any identifying marks otherwise.

Does anyone know how to tell them apart visually?

thanks

A quick Google gives me this:
"The fluted barrel of the T3x Superlite contributes to the weight reduction and is the only difference compared with the standard T3x Lite.Sep 10, 2018"

Does it have a fluted barrel?

Stainless synthetic and barrel not fluted would make it a T3X Lite, as Bladeracer has already eluded to.

Thanks all. I missed the fluting.

It is a Lite then.

Ownership documents?
If you mean rego, doesn't have that info here.
Just make, model, chambering, capacity and serial number.

Our "slips" (rego certificate's) are pink.

Maybe the pink slips explain why the state coppers here feel the need to have tactical armed response units patrol friendly fresh food markets in the CBD :unknown:  ...

Im thinking along the lines of what behavioral experts call "over-compensating"

Ahhh im so funny...

But seriously, they dont go to those intricate details here. Particularly not with mag capacity of lite/ultra lite. Here, a TikkaT3 in whatever cartridge is just that.
I think it depends on what is written on the PTA as well, after all, the data entry clerks are public servants & not up with all current & historical firearms lingo.
