Scope mounts for Tikka T3x Lite Stainless

Post by JesseW97 » 26 Oct 2020, 7:47 pm

Hay guys so I just picked up my first rifle today (T3X lite Stainless) and im just wondering what scope mounts I will need in order to fit a scope to my rifle. I am new to the shooting world so im just unsure of what I will need. I want the mounts to fit right onto the dovetail on the receiver, recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Cheers, hope to hear back from you guys soon.

What’s your scope?

I never had a tikka , prob never held one either. But I’m surprised to hear it has dovetails in the reciever...I tend to think of dovetails as something for 22 rifles or air rifles. I just did a quick you tube and I saw the top of the reciever is drilled and tapped. If it were me , I would consider a full Notched pic rail , Or a set of bases For rings to attach to. I pretty much have pic rails on all my rifles. It’s much easier Then for me to attach a thermal scope or a conventional scope And the rail just stays On there Permanently no matter what I’m doing

I do currently own "LEUPOLD RIFLEMAN 1" RINGS" which are compatible with my scope they just dont fit straight onto the dovetail so im thinking I actually need a pic rail. Would you mind if I send you a message asking some questions Blr?

Mount the pic rail, then use lower rings. Very common setup. The pic rail opens a tonne of doors for you.

The rifleman rings are entry level, single screw. What’s the caliber, may I ask?

A friend who has several tikkas recently had a huge amount of trouble with a 20moa base from watermans, the screws supplied with the picatinny base were .5 to 1mm too long creating firing pin issues and then on another tikka - he replaced the plastic action surround with a waterman steel unit that looked fantastic but after chasing an inaccuracy tail for weeks - he found the steel surround was a fraction taller than original - and was hitting bottom of action sending bullets flying...

22-250

I’m sure it’d probably be ok, but I reckon you’re pushing it a bit with the rifleman rings + 22-250. I used a set on the 223 for a while and it held a zero just fine. They are a pretty basic ring but decent quality. I tend to stick to the PRW2 ring with the duel screw, just for peace of mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the riflemen on a low recoiler however.

Full rail gives you many slots to choose from , and the available spaces on your Scope tube at both ends gives a Good range of movement allowing you to set up eye relief that accommodates your most likely shooting positions , remembering it’s nice to have a millimetre or more clearance between your barrel and the fat part of your scope ( I might also call that the objective lense Or the bell house ing if I had more confidence in my ability to use the correct terminology ) .....bulky scope knobs on the right hand side of the scope can Sometimes possibly interfere with your ability to get your fingers into the action when u need to
