I did the same thing with a 24 gun safe. It was a bit cheaper than what is normally so i bought it then realised i had no way of getting it home. I can relate.

Other than the usual suspects?

If so the books by Ian Skennerton have a ton of information on SMLE'S if so this book may help:

https://www.amazon.com.au/Australian-S- ... 0949749494

Of course, you shouldn't buy it from amazon as the book goes for like 12-15 at most LGS which stock them.
I just wanted something here...

G'day CrackThump,
No, apart from the early unit marked rifles about which some info may be found, no information regarding individual rifles was recorded during their service life, Cheers.

@ThatNewGuy.. I reckon Ian Skennerton's book is going to be a must have, just because Im in the club now lol.. but hell no, Im not paying amazon's price .. ouch

@No1Mk3 .. i was hoping you'd show up lol... thanks for the input, I mean, (like 50 million people before me) Im disappointed that I cant find out that my rifle was issued to private ***** in Lybia and single handedly liberated Tobruk from Rommel... but that life huh lol. I still feels good to own a peice of our history after so many years.

Now..... am I good enough to hit anything with it. :-/

That is gorgeous.

When do we get straight pull shotties with keg handles

Is that the same action as biathlon rifles? A type of straight pull. https://youtu.be/oBbedpBOtzw

In a broad sense yes as the bolt action swiss rifles from just before 1900 started to have straight-pull actions however in practice it is more pull back on the keg with one hand and then send it home with a solid effort to cycle the bolt.
