Bayonets looking nice SHV, Swiss Maori eh? Ah well, suppose there are plenty of Croatian Maori over Dargaville way, and I'm Irish/Scot/Maori, with the drinking habits of all 3!! The 1914 Engineers was also issued to the K31 for drivers, saddle makers and engineers if you see one at fair price, Cheers

There often is, but don't count on it. But it's easy to check, a quick undoing of two screws.

You can also decipher the markings to see if it was a rifle sold to the service members, who inspected the rifle when it was built and so on. I have a November 1936 K31. Looks like this rifle is a 1947.

These rifles are dirt cheap in Switzerland, like $150 retail in the gun shops, so that's why it's so profitable to import them. A lot of folks in Switzerland hand in the rifles when the owner passes away and they don't want them.

I love the K31, great rifle. One thing I will tell you is the barrel harmonics with these are important for accuracy and the armorers were skilled at tuning them, so if you have a great shooter, do not remove the action and barrel from the stock! Mine has never been the same once I did that.

I've also reloaded for it, which is a whole nother story.

I also had a lot of problems reloading. I use a 650 Dillon and managed to fettle a 308 setup so all is well now. I have 2 K31s and a 1911 with 30+ inch barrel.
The 1911 is interesting as the sights start at 300mtrs. Its very accurate!

Nice, what did you get if for?
I'm keeping an eye out for one but prices are crazy in Australia compaired to US or Switzerland, surely someone will bring a load in and flood the market at a reasonable price one day

The Swiss arsenals are empty. It will only be small batches anymore sourced from a few dealers in Switzerland that can sell them more overseas than at home.

Cleavers don't have any K31's, the recent batch of Schmidt Rubins are mostly K11's and a few G96/11's. Prices are high, but not unexpected given what has happened to the market recently,

Eh, have a 1896, K11 and a K31.
If you wanted a swiss straight pull the K11 is a fantastic rifle, if you wanted a K31 on the cheap you will need to go back in time when Cleavers were selling them for $750 with a bayonet.

One of these rifles is on my 'WANT' list and hopefully later this year one will be added to the safe.
Am also chasing a Type 38 6.5Jap Arisaka, Springfield 1903A3 and a KAR98. That should round out the collection nicely me thinks!

Just sold 40 odd T38 rifles and carbines at Lloyds, did you bid on any? Quite a few Mausers, but mostly K98k's and a few Kar98AZ's and Gew 88's and 98's but no Kar98's. There may be a few more T38 rifles left, and I might have a line on a Gew91 which is the same as the Kar98 but with a stacking hook if you are interested let me know, Cheers.

G'day mate,
yep I bid one three that looked to have decent stocks (not spilt) but gave up at the $500 mark as that was the limit considering if I won more than one of the bids I would be scrapping the bottom of the cunning kick barrel!!! LOL!
I bought that Martini Enfield 303 with bayonet off you last year. You were working thru cataloguing everything from that collection then. The pics you sent me certainly had some very desirable items!
I've still got your mobile number so I'll give you a bell in a few weeks once I've replenished the cunning kick. I'm certainly interested in a Type 38, not bothered if the mum is still there or not, just as long as complete, stock not split and the bore about 5-6/10. I'm after a shooter that will see mainly cast projos.
Look forward to chatting again (I'm the EOD tech).
