Not all of my modern rifles are in such good nick

I just read-up on them. Is there an ID tag under the buttplate? :)

Nice condition, 1947 rifle with the 1955 bayonet. As Wm.Traynor asked, there should be a paper tag under the butt plate with the soldiers name and address ( like me and just about everyone else with a K31 will you go straight to google earth to find his house??). Did it come with stripper clips? I see they have gone up in price but someone has been offering printed clips that apparently work well, Cheer.

There often is, but don't count on it. But it's easy to check, a quick undoing of two screws.

You can also decipher the markings to see if it was a rifle sold to the service members, who inspected the rifle when it was built and so on. I have a November 1936 K31. Looks like this rifle is a 1947.

These rifles are dirt cheap in Switzerland, like $150 retail in the gun shops, so that's why it's so profitable to import them. A lot of folks in Switzerland hand in the rifles when the owner passes away and they don't want them.

I love the K31, great rifle. One thing I will tell you is the barrel harmonics with these are important for accuracy and the armorers were skilled at tuning them, so if you have a great shooter, do not remove the action and barrel from the stock! Mine has never been the same once I did that.

I've also reloaded for it, which is a whole nother story.

Yar a bit awkward to reload for. Pity the gp11 stocks have dried up.

RUAG restarted production of GP 11 but haven't seen any hit the worldwide market yet.

I find reloading for the Swiss rifles to be easy as, I shot some PPU for brass then load .308 168g Nosler CC's with 43.0g of AR2208. I used to load the same pill with 47.0g of 2206H for2680 fps avg but get better consistency with 2208. Another club member suggests I try 2213C. I have recently been given 60 rounds of Norma sporting ammo which I will use in the G11 and K11 then load that brass for them. Try reloading the Swiss, it is fun and easy, Cheers.

G'day in2anity,
Yes, I spent a deal of time playing with bullet weight and powder combinations out to 600 yards. I found my K31 shoots heavier projectiles better than lighter, and so does the K11 but the G11 and 1889/11 are more accepting of the few 147g ex-mil projectiles and shoot HBC 155 & 155.5 well.. In all the Swiss rifles I have slow powders are preferable with 2208 as the fastest. As I posted before, a fellow club member who shoots better than me suggests 2213C, but he uses Berger VLD 174g whereas I use the Nosler 168g for several loads. my current load will shoot 1 moa at 500m, sadly I can't off the elbows anymore, Cheers.

Thanks No1 - that’s good info. I have a mate who’s really getting into them for service, I’ll pass on the info.

Anyway, who’s shooting 1moa from the service sling? Sure don’t know too many myself, even if the gun could possibly do it... :drinks: maybe 50years ago with a modified! When shooters were actually fit...

It's just 308 bullets and Prvi Partisan brass is boxer primed. The only main thing you might run into is short throats in the K31s. Berger VLDs apparently work quite well but I haven't gotten to them yet.

These are an interesting rifle and look great. I like the old military stuff and wish I had the money when I was younger to buy them when they were cheap. I own a 1952 Polish Mossin Nagant M44 that was un issued and absolutely love it. It's an accurate old beast and has been a lot of fun to own.
