The sauer has a 5 shot magazine but it can also be top-loaded, like a sako. This is why I thought this was an advantage over the Tikka. But so far everyone seems to be favouring the Tikka so I'll se how I go. I'm planning to go my local dealer tomorrow and have a feel of both of them on my shoulder. Perhaps this will also help with the decision.

While walking in the dark with the rifle shouldered I can easily reach around and feel it’s in the correct fully safe position without actually seeing it ...I’m very confident with this rifle that it will always hit and cleanly drop what I point it at in the field. It don’t ever fail me. I don’t have experience with tikka. I think some or all of the sauers barrels are pressed on rather than screwed in ( think barrel replacement down the track )
Morningblue7 wrote:Hi all, I thought I would give you an update. I went down to my LGS today and had a feel of the Tikka, the Sauer and a Lithgow 102 that someone traded in for a Sako. The Lithgow was definitely heavier than the other two and I don't think it would be an ideal choice for my kind of hunting. I can't say that either the Sauer or the Tikka felt noticeably nicer than each other when I shouldered the guns but the Tikka felt slightly lighter. However, the Sauer was about 300 dollars dearer in the timber configuration than the Tikka and so I took the plunge and put a deposit for one. I am going to have to wait a bit since they didn't have a 243 in stock but they have ordered some and I'll need to also get my PTA. I'll give more updates on how it shoots when I actually get it. Thank you all for the advice
