I have owned both.

An early production .308 BLR- I confess I hated the protruding box mag, and a later one with flush magazine. My 7600 was a .35 Whelen.

From a style point of view, I prefer the 'western' look of the BLR- however, while the 7600's rattly pump action forend does not instill initial warmth or confidence, it is durable and works.

The barrel of the 7600 free floats. My 7600 would outshoot a BLR- being faster to cycle and more accurate.

Extraction is weak on both 7600's and BLR's so be careful with your reloads.

I had both too. Never had extraction problem with the blr but i struggle with factory ppu in my 7600. The 7600 with pistol grip skeleton stock and protruding mag looks like someting they might wsnt to tdke away from us one dsy . Blr looks more civilised

Well I had a 7600, but sold it for a BLR. So I’ve owned both. I do prefer the BLR, but the 7600 is not a bad rifle either. I don’t know if I’d say one was better than the other, but more so personal preference as to the action and maybe the aesthetics, and the lever wins for me.
