Actually, thinking about it, you're right.
The rim of a .22 is 6.9mm so it couldn't get near the point of the 7.62 pill anyway.

The .303 bullets are the Bertram Protected Point, soft lead with a flat meplat - I wouldn't have considered it with the Hornady FMJ as the point would just push through the case head.
