nice rifle and pics, but I gotta ask did they come with a highly polished bayonet and high gloss finish on the timber ?

You really do up your rifles quite nicely, well beyond what they would have looked new!

the No.4 and K31 timber is quite new and I did put a little tru-oil to protect the wood, from special angle the stock looks really high gloss but from other angle they look just normal

the 98k bayonet is chromed "parade" bayonet others are some cheap non-matching poor condition spare bayonets I bought to play with, after sand paper and polishing wheel, they are very shiny looks like mirror...

Very nice SHV. Very nice indeed. You should come shoot them with the MRCA!

Here's my two girls, one for Service Rifle the other for Target Rifle:

That's a T-bone No4-223 conversion and it is extremely accurate (for a No4). It can shoot a possible at 500m, provided the winds are behaving. The SMLE design is actually extremely comfortable for sling shooting IMO. The comb is just right for irons, the forend is round and comfortable under sling tension (no glove required). The sling swivel is rigid and does not twist. The barrel is protected by full wood mitigating heat-haze, and protecting the fingers. There's a reason they are so popular in Service Rifle shooting, and even up until the 70s for fullbore comp. They are just a bit finicky and fragile to bed.
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

The No.5 carbine makes a great offhand rifle.
