3x the recoil of a .308 according to Chuck Hawks.

Haven't shot one myself of course...

Got my hands on one in Vegas when I was there.

Too many guns, not enough money though...

Rainwalker.

Mate I fired a few shots out of the 500, last year, (along with a Barrett 50 cal Sniper Rifle), not bad recoil at all, they are a very heavy handgun, which tames the recoil considerably, plus they have a substantial hand grip, which helps.

After firing the 500, I wanted one, but living here in Australia you cannot have any thing over 45 cal, so I got a 460 XVR Smith and Wesson with an 8.5 inch barrel instead.

Cheers, Baz..

Mate the 500 I fired I fired had the muzzle break, and it had the long barrel, my 460 has the break and the 8.5 inch barrel.

Cheers Baz.

Can you remove the brake Baz?

Ever shot it without one?

They give you two interchangeable muzzle breaks, one for lead and the other for jacketed.

I have never fired it with out the break, they are ...Very Loud... with a tremendous flash coming from both barrel and chamber.

Taking the brake off will definitely make it quieter.

Not sure it will do your wrists any favours though

Let us know if you ever get around to firing it without the brake ;)

Just for curiosity.

Makes you wonder why they make pistols powerful enough to need a brake.

Just use a rifle instead?

They sell them powerful handguns to create a market for them surplus mussle breaks... (someone did actually use those words, really)

Just to be clear and resolve some obvious confusion; Your women friend may BREAK her wrist if you don't use the appropriate muzzle BRAKE....
