anyone had problems with the 68x series ribs cracking on the adjustable unsingles? Mine cracked from the front to the front head hole. Anyone else seen this before?

G'day bohan,
Yes, this is a common problem with the 696 Unsingle stemming from a design flaw and Beretta should be able to fix the problem with your gun. There is a post about this issue on Trapshooters.com forum. Cheers.

The smith I owned was a different model but back then they had a good rep and I heard generally they could standup to a good flogging

G'day Blr243,
In this context, the 686 referred to is an under/over shotgun manufactured by Beretta, not a Smith & Wesson revolver. The Unsingle is a single barrel, high rib fitment to the O/U for Trap shooting which in the USA is contested with single barrel shotguns, Cheers.

I always liked the look of the Browning BT99. Another single barrel trap gun popular in the States.
