Good iron sights.

So disappointed by the one on the Ruger Scout or the one on the CZ 455 Camp.

It should not be that difficult to copy the Singer sight of the Lee No4 and make it windage adjustable.

I like M16 sights, I'd have them on everything if I could.
Luckily they're cheap and readily available in all sorts of configurations.

.303 Case extractor from the Bren Gun cleaning kit.

Some locally made GI style mags in 20/30 - Perfectly legal in most states, banned effectively by border force.

amen. I'm honestly grateful my focus is on rifle powders nowadays... not sure how various disciplines, like CLAS can continue to function?

It's just LAS nowadays, we got rid of the "C" word as we don't play dress-ups.
But you are right, the lack of pistol powder doesn't just affect pistol shooting. I do both so it's a double whammy for me.

At least you still go your high power. The other thing that's influencing my path is the ridiculous amount of rain we've been having on the eastern seaboard. We've missed that many matches this year many members won't even have enough scores for grade aggregation. As a result i'm getting back into smallbore; which are usually semi-shielded from the rain. You gotta adapt with the times, i feel.

Is it viable to use black or does it lack the velocities required? Is black still readily available?

It's available, but not widely, and presents other problems in use in lever-guns. I have tried it but as we are sometimes shooting 20 shots in a few minutes it presents fouling control issues, at least it has for me.

Yes, I imagine that would be an issue. Can we get Blackhorn 209 here in Oz?

One of the benefits I noticed with Moly coated bullets is less fouling of any kind and no burnt or unburnt powder laying in the barrel . I have fired up to 250 to 300 shots without the need to clean and no major accuracy loss using pure moly coated bullets .
Never used black powder but I reckon it will help a lot at reducing fouling . You don't use wax on the bullets though that's just another fouler . There is a special way to coat them that does not require wax .

What makes black powder shooting work is the correct bullet lubricant and generally a lot of it.
A heavy 45-70 bullet will have 3 large lube groves with the bullet backed up by either a lubricated wad or a grease cooking sandwich affair, the entire purpose is to keep the powder fowling soft so the next shot blows the bore 'clean'. A lot of people will also use blow tubes as well, a good warm breath down the pipe allows the fowling to absorb moisture and stay soft. A moly coated bullet with nothing else wont work. If you have ever fired a blackpowder shotgun or musket with smooth balls and nothing else you will know how hard and rough the fowling gets as you try to ram the 10th ball down the barrel etc. You almost need a hammer. Compared to a rifle or cartridge gun running heavily lubricated minie balls or lubed bullets its night and day, my P53 Enfield I can get probably 50 shots off before it starts to get hard to load.

Moly may or may not work I have never used black powder but if you start with a good clean bore and get the barrel coated up then I can't see why it would not reduce some fouling . A coating of moly under the fouling might stop a lot of powder fouling sticking to the bore . Moly does evacuate all burnt and unburnt smokeless powder . I don't know if it will work because I have never tried it with Black powder but by the same token neither have you so you can't say it won't work .

It won't reduce fouling at all as the fouling is from the powder not the projectile.
