Winchester "92

Post by Noisydad » 03 May 2014, 1:47 pm

I came across a Winchester '92, serial number 1587FRG for sale and have tried to research the serial number to date it on several websites but cant find an exact match for the number - the problem being the suffix letters.

The numbers by themselves indicate it was built in 1892 but I think it's condition is to good to be that old.

Does anyone have any better info to enlighten me with?
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Tough to find info on these things.

No centralised info from Winchester or anywhere else as far as I know.

Gotta luck upon someone who has an old manual or some information that matches with yours.

As I've found to my own frustration in the past :(
Winchester Model 70 Featherweight - .270 Winchester Short Magnum
Uberti 1873 Short Rifle - .45 Colt
