Sauer 101 feedback?

Post by Khan » 12 Aug 2013, 9:50 am

Interested in a Sauer 101... I like walnut but could be talked into something else with convincing arguments...

Anyone got some experience with them?

Feedback, go! :D

Being German made is always a plus.

Usually much finer tolerances than stuff built in the US.

Winning stocks too.

I usually hate synthetic stocks as they feel (are?) like crappy plastic.

There dense rubber/plastic ones feel solid and comfortable though.
Good news, everyone!

Ditto.

Personally I like Laminate stocks the most like on the Ruger Hawkeyes (and other brands I'm sure), then Walnut. Not a fan of their plastic ones at all though.

A mate of mine has one in 7mm Rem Mag and he won't shut up about how good it is lol.

With hand loads he's shooting cloverleaf groups at 100m off the bench, so can't complain about that.

From memory I think they're about $2200-$2300 or something like that? Not exactly cheap, but certainly an accurate and well built rifle. If you've got the money and you're keen on one I'd say go for it.

Supposedly their synthetic stocks are designed to absorb about 15% of the energy/recoil when firing. The dense rubbery materials absorbs the vibrations or some such...

Not subject to swelling/warping like walnut can be either.

Hmm, not sure how convinced I am of that? 15% recoil reduction is pretty huge for just changing the material of a stock?

Same.

In any case though khan, they're solid rifles. I'm sure you'd be happy with some whether you got wood or rubber stock.

I'm the same - very few synthetic stocks that I like.

The Sauer one stacks up well though, I'll give it that.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?
