G'day and Win M70 question

Post by MrClark » 07 May 2014, 5:05 pm

G'Day everyone, ive been a reader for a little while and decided to say hello.

So I guess a bit about myself, i've only got back into hunting a while ago, used to do heaps of rabbit and duck shooting as a little tacker, haha im still a youngin really. but getting back into it over here, pigs, goats, etc.

Looking forward to chatting with you good people and maybe one day catch up for a beer.

So my question about the Winchester Model 70's

I'm a Huge Winchester fan hahaha. Ive looked everywhere for one of the limited runs of the rocky mountain elk foundation super grades, M70 Supergrade III stainless RMEF .300WM. seen a couple advertised on US sites but never here.

Just wondering if any Winchester fans know if any got shipped to Aus or was it an American thing?
I really hope Export isn't actually Exported, mighty embarrassing for WA, hahaha I'll still drink it though

I think it was only in the US mate, I've never seen one or heard of one for that matter. Probably be one of those things that some people will put away and later ask a bloody fortune for. A bit like all the Centenary this and Centenary that we've seen with the Mod 94. If you just get hold of a Super Grade that will be a job well done. It's on my wish list.
If it's not wood and blued steel, it's not one of mine

G'day,

I know the rifle you're talking about. I was looking into it little while ago when looking at Winchester for myself.

No luck.

Spoke to the couple of locals dealers and no one knew what I was talking about. :(

Hahaha, G'day Old Fart!.

Cheers Kurl, I had the same story.

Then i thought about taking a Extreme Weather out of the stock and having a really nice stock made up for it so itd be simular but unique. no luck there either.

I rang just about every gun shop in Australia and no one had a M70 EW in .300WM.

Eventually went with a .338 WM Sako Hunter stainless, then got a M70 EW in .243 that popped up second hand. oh haha the .338 i got under recomendation from a good mate in VIC whos taking me sambar hunting, overkill yes

It will certainly do the job, there's no doubt about that.

Just make sure you don't miss with the first shot, so you don't have to do it again
