Gday Gents, I happened across this very pristine box of .303 ammo today. For any of you Lee Enfield nerds or cartridge collectors can you tell me what exactly I have here and should they be fired or kept for historical significance.

MkVII .303 British made in Melbourne by the Footscray munitions plant;

More of a collectors item but not rare or anything like that, will be shootable but I'll wager that a lot of the primers will be click-bang.
Corrosive primed and it will be loaded with cordite over a card wad.

Shoot them, 1957 should be OK, they look like they've been stored well. Box has been opened so the collector value is pretty much gone. As dnedative said they are corrosive primers so rinse your barrel with a cup of hot water after shooting then clean as normal.

I've got boxes and boxes of em dated 20th October 1966
They've all been well kept and stored, and the last time I bothered, they fired ok with no misfires. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

The click bang teaches you the importance of good follow through ;)
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?
