a mate of mine refers to them as a bolt action 30-30 . rugged, utilitarian , fairly reliable .rapid rate of fire , gets the job done .
however , if you want real accuracy , get a p14 :D .
some jungle carbines are known for having a wandering zero . they lightened the receiver on some models apparently :unknown:

probably . if the martini you saw was a matt blued sporter , that'd be it . been sorting my 30-06 vangaurd last few days for a trip next weekend and working up loads for the martini as a "barrel cooler" exercise . vangaurd used to be a 270 in stainless , now it's in a B&C stock with a IBI barrel from the big C in '06. getting .4" groups at 100 with 165bt noslers and 2209 . very , very happy .

back to 303's , 2208 with the 150 hornadys is fantastic , the real supprise was some 123gn hornady soft points that are .310" intended for the 7.62x39 (that i don't use on sambar  ) 46.5gn of 2208 gave me a vertical string at 50 that grouped .7" :wtf: no sh!t . on another 303 related topic , i recently bought some old highland 150gn 303 ammo. and it felt hot to shoot but cases extracted well so i had no real concerns . until i had a case rupture ! just as well the old martini's are strong

I shot a few of the Mk7 rounds that i got with my no5 mk1 gent that i picked it up off purchased it in the early 90s and he was about that age when i got it off him.

Few click bangs until the eventual ruptured case i have probably close to 100 of them left that ive put into a vacume sealed bag. Save the history so to speak.

Welcome to the No5, lots of fun. Original butt stocks can be found now and then, but if you have trouble Libertytree had very nice reproductions for a very good price and a Canadian company make excellent repro stocks from walnut, but a bit pricey.

LERAA prefer the PPU 174gn FMJ as they feel it closely copies the MkVII and is relatively inexpensive here at two bucks a round.

Very poor hunting cartridge though, PPU also make a 180gr SP which has proven itself on all game species short of the Big 5, and Remington also make a 180gr SP using Core-Lokt.

Yes, you'd have to file the points off for hunting, but he didn't say he was hunting with it.
