I got a nice surprise today, I'd recently fitted the new Boyd's thumbhole stock to my Howa heavy barrel 223 and took it out to the range today for shoot.

Best effort at 100 yards/metres was 1.5cm with 5 Sierra Match Kings and 25 grains of 2206H.

Nice group mate. Big difference over the old stock?

That's key IMO.

You can have the best, fanciest equipment in town but if it's uncomfortable for you you won't be able to shoot for s**t.

Very noice group.

From memory it was a Boyds stock wasn't it? How long did it take you to get it through from US, Aussie post and customs etc.?

Pete,

Yes mate it's a Boyd's and it only took about 4-5 days to get from the US to here, then languished about in Sydney for close to 2 weeks.

I had rang Aus Post and tried the tracking number and they were no help but suggested I call Customs.

They said that a wood stock was of no concern to them and they would have just waved it through.

I rang my local mail sorting centre and they tracked it down and I had it the next day.

I dropped it straight in after a little light sanding and it shot really well right away, I think I'll leave well enough alone.

Yep my Howa/Boyds combos are good shooters too (plenty of groups like that and smaller) just seems to be a combination that clicks for whatever reason.

Good thing I'm not fussy then. I'm shooting benchrest at the Grafton range on Sunday, acid test.
