Sako website confusion...

Post by Tassiebloke » 17 Oct 2023, 8:57 am

gday everyone, thought i might just ask the collective mind of EG about the Sako website, especially their page on the 90 Bavarian.

in the description of the rifle, it is said that the available calibres are: 222, 223, 22-250, 243, 6.5cm, 7-08, 308, 6.5x55, 270, 30-06, 8x57is, 9.3x62, 270wsm, 300wsm, 7mmRM, 300WM, 338WM and 375 H&H magnum.

yet, further down the page (in the comparison section), there is another list of calibres supposedly available which only consists of : 22-250, 243, 300WM, 308, 338wm, 375 H&H, 6.5cm, 7-08 and 7mmRM.

now maybe i'm just reading this wrong, but i don't think i am. the Barn also lists the second set of calibres, thus confusing me even more. why sako would not include popular calibres such as 223 308, 30-06 etc baffles me.

anyway, i though that some of you might be able to help me with this.

here's the link anyway: https://www.sako.global/rifle/sako-90-bavarian

cheers, tassiebloke.

Hi Mate
I was looking at the SAKO website and it claims the calibers available included the 223.
I have a Sako 85 in 223 and its my main rifle. Accurate as, has done 99% of my vermin control. I mainly use a hand loaded Hornady 55gr V-Max.
But you can't get a 223.
So I rang Beretta Australia. The fellow I spoke to was really nice and informed me, we may get the Sako 90 in 223 possibly in the first quarter of 2024.
No mention of a 204 either.

They have been slow updating the website, for a long time they did not list the 30-06 on their website. They do now but in the list on the bottom with specs they still don’t show the 30-06 but I have placed an order for one and will arrive in Aus late Feb 24 and I should get it here in Tassie early March. Speaking to some dealers it seems they have a huge world wide demand and guess they prioritise certain calibres for certain markets.

I picked up a Sako 90 in .300 on Christmas eve, which had been on order for 4 months. I was told only 15 rifles were in that batch brought into Aus, in various cals and models, so I consider myself lucky mine came in.
Apparently, mine was a specific request from Sako Finland by Beretta Aus, from my request. I can't vouch for anything being the truth, only what I've been told.
