I hope you are going to be hand loading It is a very expensive calibre for ammo .

It's not going to be a high volume rifle. I'll use it for hunting and some dabbling in longer range shooting but I reckon if I put 200 rounds through it in a year I will be doing well. I've got a Taipan lite and a 22 for when I want to shoot lots!

I thought about handloading but the set up cost and time required are putting me off at the moment.

Yes when I see the prices for a decent reloading setup I can see why so many use factory loads .
And at that rate of use it will last a long time .

I tend to agree.
But one of the best things I did was to start hand loading.
It can be as simple as a Lee Classic loader for about $75 or truly OCD.

I started with the Lee Clasdic but MHO don't do that.
Shop around for used gear, it lasts a life time. To start all you need is:

Press
Lee RGB Dies
Preferably beam scale, but could use cheap digital to start.
Priming tool or alluminium or copper rod/punch lol
Powder funnel
Loading block, diy
Scoop diy
Powder
Primers
Bullets.

As you get going add the rest.
Trimmer
Vernier caliper or micrometer
Pocket cleaner diy
Deburrer, or Stanley knife and fine file. Lol
Trickler or just use an empty case or diy

Fully agree with oldbloke about reloading. Started out with a cheap press and minimal tools.

Especially during all the panic buying through Covid it was nice to just have a stockpile of projies, primers and powder to keep my brass running.

No experience with the super varmint but I’ve got two CTR’s in both calibers. Was going to rebarrel the 6.5 into a 7 or 30 SAUM but now papalia’s bill is incoming im probably just gonna keep my 6.5 Creed as a club rifle and keep the 6.5 Creed for hunting and get something else for bigger game than pigs since my Creedmoor did double duty for range and hunting.

How much are you paying for factory over ammo over there?

The Winchester was $76 a box. The Hornady Match was something like $105 and the Hornady precision hunter is $123.

I've got some new Norma stuff that was $79 a box. I'm hoping its comparable in accuracy to the Winchester without having the same feeding issues.

And yes, it hurts to buy ammo, even if I know I did it to myself and knowing I'm not planning on shooting PRS matches with 200 round counts
