i'm re evaluating getting a rimfire for the exact reasons you list . i like the no reloading part . i do enough already i've been looking into the cz 457 , but accuracy is a lottery according to some . a weihrauch hw66 would float my boat , but a little more than i want to spend . i've heard 17hmr accuracy drops off after about 40 rounds . have you found this to be the case ?
I had a Savage Bmag in .17WSM, in a Boyd's laminated thumbhole stock.
Brilliant round, hits them like a sledgehammer.
The ammo isn't cheap, but it's bloody effective.
The first pic is the W-Strap on the yards at one of the shearing sheds, I slightly miscalculated my trajectory at 65m
This guy took one just below the left eye at ~125m
If I was going to get a smaller rifle again, it would be the WSM for sure
