I purchased a Bog Deathgrip tripod last week.
Is it okay to use a tripod when sighting in the rifle as opposed to a led sled? (I've got a 30-06, a 223 and a 22LR)
Cheers
Michael

The only way you'll know for sure is to take them both out into the paddock and shoot some groups from each. You really should zero the same way you intend to shoot, if you are going to shoot from the tripod then zero the rifle from the tripod.

Yes, sand bags are good.
I've used shooting sticks just to check when away hunting. But now using this at range. (Different brand) Getting good results.

Geeze I like your front rest mate. Is that a car jack? Or custom made?

Bloody good job mate, I hope you don't mind me stealing that idea off you when I get some rainy-day workshop time.
There's an old car screw jack around here somewhere...
Nice touches like the handles cut into your rear bag height spacers!
Only bastard thing is the exorbitant prices of front benchrest bags! Can't believe those little things are $40 plus.

Geeze mate, took your sage advice, all of the ones worth buying are $50 bucks... punch in the face prices for a tiny Chinese sewing experiment.
I'm after the small jobby that straps to the front rest, same/similar as the item on your Rock front rest.
Hey, I'll even supply the dry sand to fill it.
There was a "pro-tactical" front rest for around $20, but that brand is generally, well, typical made-to-the-lowest-possible-quality self-destructs-in 5-minutes stuff and I won't elaborate and risk being sued.
Bugger.
