Lever release

Post by dagedsta » 03 Mar 2025, 3:15 pm

Hi law-abiding, licensed, gun owning legends,

Recently there is a lot of hype and chatter about these lever-release firearms and possible bans in WA, etc.

Well, I am in NSW. And what happens there doesn't affect me, although it bothers me.

My question is, are these allowed in NSW? If so, which ones and if not, why not? Probably out of my price range anyway, I am just interested.

Cheers guys,

Ged

The lever release action is cat A or B in NSW depended on calibre. Those cz515 things for the rimfire or there are some Turkish shotguns. A few centrefire rifles have them too.

In NSW you just have to have the fixed stock versions and the small magazine capacity.

All fine ATM in NSW, although they banned one on the look-alike laws.
My Dicko shotty and CZ 515 were both around $1,100 from memory but the T2000 shotty is now where it's at as it's a gas activated action like a semi-auto with speed and possible recoil advantages.
The Turk guns are chalk and cheese compared to those first $200 junk shop Adlers that I had no interest in.
Finish and fit are fine as is the action and operation.

I would expect they will push the boundaries and bring in things that look like an asault semi shotty and they will ban them first.
