C'mon, you can go that one step higher for the .416.

Damn, I really didn't need a 5th 223 rifle.

It's not a new rifle, same rifle in diff cal is all - still wouldn't bother with one myself.

Nah, 375 as far as I'm concerned is the upper limit for the scout 'style' of rifle, Steyr had the right idea with the calibre, but the 376 is what, 200fps or so behind the H&H or Ruger....

I'm surprised the Guide Gun hasn't done better TBH.

The Scout is crazy popular while the Guide Gun's almost gone by unnoticed.

With the range of calibres and removable brake system I'd thought it would have been the other way round.

It does look like a serious rifle to me, and I'm keen to get one ... As soon as I get my pocket money :D

It come down to the detachable mag..... or the lack there of. Yes the 308win in the GSR is the go to chambering, but the guide has many more options and serious contenders; 300/338winmag, 375/416Ruger and others

That's never been much of a selling point for me. Who needs a 10 shot mag for hunting?

1 shot and maybe second follow up for single targets. 3-4 shots and everything's scattered anyway if it that's the type of hunting.

Anyway, not trying to ruin it for anyone else. It just doesn't appeal to me all that much.

The idea is that it's a general purpose rifle (which I'm sure you're aware). Yeah you can hunt with it but with a detachable magazine and quick target acquisition it can also make a fairly decent self defense rifle. What appeals to me most about this rifle is its compact size. It matches my hunting style in which I tend to walk about some.

Well put mate ! I LOVE Mine, it's just to easy to swing for snap shots and has a decent reach if you need to take those longer shots. And as Ive said before, diving into a big mob of goats or pigs, that 10 shot box comes in real handy :)

So how many are you getting when you "Dive In"?

I find it hard to get 1 or 2 before they all bugger off so 10shot mags aren't of any use to me.

You should have kept your mouth shut Lorgar, you've upset the Scout Fan Club.

He he.

I wasn't knocking it... Might have come off sounding a bit more negative than I intended.

I like a few things about Ruger, I have/had a Hawkeye in .308 and .243 which were fine rifles.

I get all the features of the Scout, they're just not for me.

Didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade, maybe I should have just shutup

You could always swap to a 5 shot mag and save yourself carrying around the extra 5 rounds and metal.

Just a thought.
