Anybody looked at chiappa x-calibre or little badger

Post by Bennybigbores » 19 Sep 2014, 9:46 pm

Was looking on Chiappas home page for some specs on my 12g and came across some interesting firearms, first one was the Little Badger - single shot .22lr or.22mag 16.5" barrel whole gun folds down to be 16.5" and weighs a massive 1.3kg

Next one really caught me eye, X-Calibre, a break barrel combination gun 12g over a .22lr, bizarre stock but looks practical, but the interesting part is the little bag that comes with it, comes with adaptors to drop into the 12g smoothbore, these adaptors are stumpy 9" barrels in varying calibres from 9mm, 357mag, 44mag, 410/45long colt, even in .223 and .308.

I imagine accuracy would be a little lacking but versatile 8+ varied cals all in a super light weight package, I'm in the process of sourcing/pricing and checking registration requirements at present will keep posted. If any others interested simply look at YouTube or google it and go the chiappa.com blah blah blah, interesting little guns worth a look

I've been Googling for a few minutes but can't an answer re: minimum lengths.

Between the length and foldable stock, seems like the kind of thing they'd be barring here?

Anyone got that info handy?

So far little badger available in six months in nsw, for around $400, but x-calibre still being reviewed by importers apparently no date or avail at moment

If you really wanted I suppose a smith could rebarrel for you with a new barrel that's 3cm longer.

If you wanted one enough to pay.

What about a long muzzle brake that's permanently fixed on?

Yeh, I've spoken to two dealers who are saying the importers aren't even go into bother bringing in, it has an adjustable stock and a 16.5" barrel, but they measure the stock at it smallest adjustment, 2cm under when extended its 3cm over

Smith welding it might be an idea?

I'm not familiar with the legal side of things but obviously they can work on firearms and must keep or certify them to a legal standard of some sort? I wonder if they can include the alternations on a permit about the stock to get it passed through or something?

I'm certain they could be modified, but you have to find some one willing to import a $300 rec retail rifle to sell which may virtually need that spent again to legally modify it to suit state restrictions, modifying when there in the country is a simple fix getting them in the country is the problem!

Hopefully a few guys at the SFP are keen on them and push for a rule change to reduce the limit by 3cm :D
