So, apparently our friendly local foreign arms manufacturer, Thales, or is tar-less, have won a contract for the F90;
Thales Australia has received a low rate initial production (LRIP) contract from the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) for the company's F90 5.56 mm assault rifle, developed to replace the Australian Defence Force's (ADF's) in-service F88 series.
No details were given by Thales of the contract's value or schedule, but the company is understood to be hoping for a contract for "an appropriate volume" of F90s after second pass approval, which is anticipated in June 2015..........c/- Janes
Apparently the revolutionary new development adds a bolt releaseto the 88.... and a new stock and more rails.... but the hole in the barrel doesnt yet measure 7.62
Things that go bang with a whistle..
Since viewing my first Dillon promo video, I've want a minigun atop my hunting rig....closest thing to a firebreathing laser beam streaming lead type of thing.. awesome with tracers in the twilight..
But I've been turned by IRAN! This is what necessity breeds when the west say no toys to you; a 50 Cal version of the little 30cal pipsqueak, called the Moharran, 2500 rounds per minute of lead emitting from this baby;
"The Iranian military unveiled various new weapons and platforms during and immediately after the annual Army Day Parade on 18 April, including a six-barrelled 12.7 mm gun called the Moharram.
Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, the commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Forces, said it was an air defence weapon capable of firing 2,500 rounds per minute. A manually operated Moharram was displayed mounted on the back of the truck during the parade.........."Me wants!
And there are always those individuals who are never happy so then theres the 3 barrel version (of the older 6bar Vulcan)
Chambered in 23mm!!! at only 1500rpm....
perspective: 270kg of lead downrange every minute of firing, thats over 4 million grains worth of bullets every minute...
The concerning thing about this is that Iran has been convinced it needs to prepare for war..... it seems about ready, very sad.
