Some of my toys that keep me going week to week. Fun with a gun, in 9mm. :D

Nice collection mate. What matches do you shoot?

Service match, Action match and IPSC, just to give all the guns a run, then also my model 19 revolver to balance it out.

Awesome. I'm in the process of upgrading my Glock a little to shoot IPSC. Heaps of fun

Upgrading your Glock, what model 17 or 34? Production shooting is a great deal of fun, possibly is or more accurately it actually is the most popular in the 4 divisions, 5 if you count revolver. However if upgrading there is little you can legally do to a Glock in production division.

It's a 34. A couple guys at the club told me the 34 doesn't qualify for production because it has an extended mag release and slide release even though it comes from the factory with those (I know hearing from someone at the range is hardly definitive) even so I'd like to change a couple things on the Glock cos I shoot other matches with it.

So far I've just polished up the trigger internals to give it a smoother pull. Next I was looking at swapping to 3.5 pound connector. Then I wanted to swap out the front sight for a fibre optic. I was planning on keeping the factory rear sight because it's adjustable.

I don't know a heap about the different divisions but from what I've heard those mods should land me in Limited, right?

Sorry you may not be getting the best advice. If you are shooting a 34, in standard, go for it, there is no limited division, it's been replaced by classic. All you need to comply with is the box into which the pistol with magazine inserted needs to fit into, fibre optics, thumb rest all manner of spring and trigger modifications are totally legal and needed. A mag well is good, sights are whatever you wish, but be advised, you are competing against the STI and a cost three times your pistol. Big deal, shoot for the fun and good luck. Virtually no matter what modifications you proceed with you will be in standard division.

Lastly, I failed to advise you are also in 9mm shooting minor, this is a massive handicap. Most standard shooters use the .357 sig, major scores more points per hit on the C & D zones. Glock is available in .357 sig, not my cup of tea, but then my views on Glocks are well known. Blacktown has a great club, a great number of great shooters, you could not wish for a nicer group of shooters than in IPSC.

How beneficial do you find the porting is on the CZ Czechmate?

Prefer shooting it to your other 2?

Yeah I thought getting major out of the 9mm would be hard. I'll just have to get accurate

In Standard division 9mm are minor irrespective of load. Major in standard division can only be in .357sig, .40cal or .45 when allowed. hence at the moment in all states except Victoria .357 sig is the go.

Ahh ok. There's still a heap I've gotta learn  Hopefully 45's will catch on in other states for IPSC

I wrote a whole article on my Checkmate, 9mm major is fantastic, 7.4 grns Ap100 and a 125 conical or a 135 round nose make major easy. I have now used my Checkmate for just on one year, NEVER a problem, sits flat, no 9mm issues in over 25 reloads on each case.
I have owned over very many years 5 race guns, all STI, all in .38 super. I in 2012 again had an STI made for me, after 5 months sold it and grabbed the Checkmate. Love my SP01, owned that for 5 years and then some, any my STI Apeiro is beyond brilliant. All 3 guns are used almost on rotation, I'm to silly to stick with 1 pistol as i know I should.
