I haven't handled one mate, not sure if they import them or not to be honest? I reckon they'd go fine out a window too, mind you I just use my Varmints the same way anyway :D

Looks like you're on a lazy-susan or something there.

Yeah mate, got a howa 1500 houge camo stock, long action in 30.06, topped with a Redfield 3-9 x 40 scope. Great rifle, smooth positive action and great accuracy with my pet handloads. Put a bullet up a grasshoppers butt at 300, no worries. Oh, it's great on deer and pigs to! Ha ha

My Howa is currently having a new barrel fit.

Short action in Boyds featherweight Thumbhole left hand. Light straight taper stainless barrel chambered for 7-08.

Still wondering weather to fit my Atlas Worx DBM kit and buy a 5 shot 308 mag, or just put the internal mag back in it.

So i figure... just have to see if i can still dig up the old 223 internal mag.

If anyone's interested i may be able to do a good swapsie deal on the Atlas Worx floor plate for a 308 Howa internal plus a few bucks.

Up until a few weeks ago i did not rate the Howa,s
I tended to stick to Sako,s Tikka,s and Ruger,s
But a guy at work was selling a Howa in 243 for only $400 i knew the gun and how little work it had done so less than 200 rounds at the range only I snapped it up fitted a different scope/ring, floor plate went and fitted a mag to it what a surprise nice to shoot and feels right .
Now I am converted its my first synthetic stock I don,t think it will be my last

Get that trigger worked if it hasn't been already done and you will love it even more, the Ebay Guy Glen Coughlan is the guy to go to for the job if you want a fantastic trigger at a great price and quick turn around and lifetime warranty on his work.

I was looking at howa's, and got a bit confused. Do you choose the barrel, then stock (sort of like a custom gun)? The website is a bit confusing, it was last updated in 2011... Further, is the price difference between the standard 'sporter' barrel and the 'varmint' barrel worth any extra accuracy?
Cheers

This is the Howa I had, a .308 with a 4x32 scope.
I rated it highly and would recommend them to someone wanting an affordable workhorse. I found mine nice and light and accurate too.
The only reason I sold mine was because I'm now focusing mainly on Sambar and I just wanted something a little bigger than a .308.
In fact I wanted to keep Howa and get a new barrel in .338 FEDERAL screwed on but the cost was prohibitive (I ended up buying my Winchester .338WM a couple hundred bucks cheaper than a new barrel would've cost.)
I have nothing but nice things to say about the Howa I had and I wish I could've kept it.

I have a howa mini-action in 204 ruger with a 20" heavy barrel. Haven't done anything to it yet and shoots 0.5" with factory federal ammunition at 100 metres!
Love it!

You guys on this thread have completely sold me on the Howa. I am planning on buying a Howa 1500 in .308 with a .22 sporter barrel and eventually rebarrel to a .260 with 26-28in barrel for long range practical comp shooting and to double as long range varmint gun.
