There are a lot of options, I wouldn't say "most" rifles are one thing.

You're 3 basic options for stock are synthetic (plastic), timber and laminate.

Synthetic we covered.

Stocks of layered laminate are a "best of both worlds" kind of deal. They look ok, are solid like timber, not flimsy like plastic, and keep the water out. They're easy to clean just with a wipe down of your cleaning product.

Personal opinion here but I think most agree timber is the nicest. Looks good, feels good, that's what you want, right? Every stock needs cleaning, the timber just need a little extra to keep them looking good. This could be oil, or wax, or both, or whatever you decide you like. There are multi-purpose cleaner/lube/protection products like Prolix, Bore-Tech do some and others I can't name off the top of my head.

There are lots of good products, there isn't really a single "right" one. Opinions will vary at least.

The 30-30 is just fun, its a lever, Great for 50-60m, Great for plinking and targets, and just all around fun... Never mean to rub it in, I just enjoy my new hobby.. I hear about your problems over there, I find is scary that a group of people can dictate to another group of people that they cant have something just because it looks 'military' I dont dress my rifles up, they are tools, but honestly, I find it scary the closed minded nature of most people, willing to give up anything to make themselves feel safe...

and so on and so forth...

Thanks guys. Had a good time testing out my accuracy. Bagged a couple of bunnies and got to test out the new skinning knife as well .

Might have to head to the range to zero in the scope on the 308. Pesky goats got the better of me.
