just backing up a little if i look at these pics again it's clear the damaged screws were damaged on assembly, most likely by incorrectly fitted screwdriver bits, yes the rust and damaged bluing and poor fitup of the timber is an issue of their own but i don't think any of the pics indicate it's a used rifle, just a poorly handled/assembled Juan

look at the distance between the marks in this pic, the screwdriver used is less than half the width of the slot, bad form

True, screw fitment looks like something I'd have done when I was 4

No way of knowing how many firings it's had, but that bolt looks like it was shaped with a rasp file about 100 years ago and the filth/grease looked well used

Oh well, sign of the times maybe.

I've never asked along these lines but I think it's safe to assume they wont be very forthcoming with any information regarding ownership of firearms.

Technically if you'd be sold a second hand one as new it would be a matter for fair trading. Not actually a police issue.

But it's sorted anyway, just thinking out loud there.
