LMAO, no way.

That's a joke pitching that as new.

LGS assured me it wouldn't be the Distributor doing a dodge. LGS has accepted to refund. Great to deal with.

Going with a Browning BL-22 lever action (blued/wood grade 2) instead.

*EDIT*
*Distributors please note: I retract any insinuations if unfounded. Just lost my sh!t yesterday which was for good reason. Rifle turned up in poor condition.

My LGS should have returned it before I even looked at it.

Done and dusted.

Great news mate, glad they did the right thing. Hopefully the Browning BL-22 will be a better choice.

Good luck

If the dealer was passing that off as new......an obvious factory return or possibly even second handy!!

I say we're very close to a name and shame territory here.... mods chip in if we have a no name-and-shame policy.

Dont blame Rem, if its a return then the dealer would have received a reimbursement for the cost on the basis that its onsold at a discount (return/usedy).

1290,

Agreed.

Rifle turned up in poor condition.

My LGS should have returned it before I even looked at it.

I wouldn't be retracting "ANYTHING" it is what it is, a piece of "s**t" :o   You got the pictures now to prove it and they haven't got a leg to stand on if they supplied that to you, surprised the LGS even excepted it in that condition!!!!!! Might be needing to look for a new LGS IMHO good move in not excepting it

Need to leave the names out of it all.

Just best to avoid potential drama.

I reckon that if your LGS has accepted things as they are and agreed on a substitute you're doing OK. Like most of us here I like to deal locally and have massive anxiety issues about buying a firearm sight unseen. Rather pay a little more and know what I'm getting.

Question; why is it always Queensland that these drama's seem to come from?

Who knows maybe we buy more rifles and so the failure rate only seems higher :o  :o Just a thought

just backing up a little if i look at these pics again it's clear the damaged screws were damaged on assembly, most likely by incorrectly fitted screwdriver bits, yes the rust and damaged bluing and poor fitup of the timber is an issue of their own but i don't think any of the pics indicate it's a used rifle, just a poorly handled/assembled Juan ;)

look at the distance between the marks in this pic, the screwdriver used is less than half the width of the slot, bad form :(

True, screw fitment looks like something I'd have done when I was 4

No way of knowing how many firings it's had, but that bolt looks like it was shaped with a rasp file about 100 years ago and the filth/grease looked well used ;)

Oh well, sign of the times maybe.

I've never asked along these lines but I think it's safe to assume they wont be very forthcoming with any information regarding ownership of firearms.

Technically if you'd be sold a second hand one as new it would be a matter for fair trading. Not actually a police issue.

But it's sorted anyway, just thinking out loud there.

Has anyone had a good experience with a new Remington 572 BDL?
I'd like to buy one, but this story and it's comments have me doubting Remington as a brand all together.
