just wondering does any 1 else here have a CZ 452 2E varmint in a 17 HMR, having problems with lots of carbon building up on the bolt wondering if any 1 else has had a similar problem, had a good friend say it may be head spacing. Brought the rifle second hand from a gun dealership gonna give them a ring when i get a chance and see what i can do about it with them.

I have just picked one up 2nd hand but it's not the varmint model!!!! Seems to be no problem with excessive carbon build up on the bolt ???? You are always going to get some as it's the nature of the beast .What do you call excessive???

Next time I get a chance to take it to the range ill snap a couple of pictures...it was quite a bit alot of the face of the bolt was covered quite thick too as well...admittedly had about 100 to 150 rounds throught it but my mate got the same gun using different ammo tho and it wasnt nearly as bad so not sure if its ammo related going to buy a box of a couple of different brands first to try as suggested by the gun shop...wasnt overly happy with the consistency of the ammo I was using any way

If using Winchester say no more, try federal cci etc I have savage 17hmr had nothing but dramas with win. ammo split necks stuck cases miss fires and bad groups, never noticed excess carbon, but I'd try different ammo and see, if you were using Winchester let us know, cheers

Photos would be good.

Roughly how much carbon and how far down the bolt is it going? Trying to get an idea of volume compared to the 150 rounds shot.
