So finally after 3 weeks ordering it in and another 34days waiting for my application to be approved, my new .223 Tikka T3 Hunter SS fluted 1:8 twist (LH) has just arrived :D

So thought i'd share some photos as there is a lot of tikka lovers out there.

It's my first centre fire rifle (I'm 20).

I'm pretty broke right now and still need to get a new scope, open to any recommendations (it has to be under 45mm i think to fit the stock scope mounts) bipod, sling, reloading kit :|

The plastic mag doesn't seem to bad but i'm probably going to end up getting it a 10round one as well.

Also thinking of the detachable hinterland muzzle break http://www.hss.net.au/product_info.php?products_id=1012 more for looks than anything else

Other rifle in the photo is a Gammo and a CZ deluxe .22

Really nice looking firearm and great Tiger striped stock! i'd go for the 10 round mag and use the 3rd mag. as 'back up" but personally, on a .223 I wouldn't worry too much about fitting a muzzle break.

Enjoy!!

broke? didnt over-capitalise did you?? there are plenty of cheapish scope if needs be...

and first centrefire at 20... no excuse, you should be up to number 5 by then!

Nice tiger stripe, neat trick by tikki though; quarter sawn stock clear medullary ray exposure....

Guess the jury's in on the stock being a beauty, have to admit I really like that tiger look. Congrats mate, if she shoots how she looks you're on a sure winner there. Quality rifle deserves a quality scope, what sort of budget you thinking for optics?

Yeh pretty pleased can't wait to go for a shoot! bit out of pocket as I'm heading to Japan in jan ;) but don't mind waiting and saving up for some better glass over the cheaper stuff. thinking a 4-12 around the $750 mark, maybe a Leupold as i know the name...

I use the VX 2 4-12x50 on the 204, 22-250 & 30-30 and can't fault them. If you're doing any night time shooting with a spot light I'd save a little extra and get the 50mm objective and a decent set of rings to suit. If daylight's more your thing then the VX2 4-12x40 looks the goods and should fit the rings you have. Do some checking on if you can claim the GST back if you take the scope to Japan with you, not sure how the duty free shopping thing works these days but it may get you an additional %10 discount.

Leupold VX-1 is often the 'go-to' scope for shooters on a budget looking for a little quality.

Any idea what magnification you want? 3-9x? 4-12x? Other?

Stainless is a little easier to clean, but blued looks the business. And they shoot the same.

For a good looking rifle I'll take blued any day.
