Has anyone had anything to do with the Savage 110 BA?

I'm thinking of buying one.

I can tell you they 'resemble' an M4 so are getting banned and confiscated here in WA at the moment

Any room in VIC there, 1sikxt?

I want out.

Not extensive experience but I've had a few goes on one after bumping into a fellow a couple of times at the range and having a shoot of his.

Shooting .300 WM with the brake on.

Very gentle, .243ish kind of recoil.

The Accutrigger took some getting used to but that was just me, nothing wrong with it. Pretty light, pretty clean brake.

It was early days and the first time he was breaking it in, second time was first shots with hand loads. A little over 1" groups at 100 which isn't amazing but given it was the first shoot you wouldn't expect it to be perfect.

Don't worry, banning in vic may yet occur... Vicpol 2IC famously referred to it as an automatic rifle of some kind.....legend.

Gotta say, I've found them to have a lot of wasted rifle on them if you know what I mean...

2 tops rails, same on the sides, that huge plate on the bottom of the grip. Feels like a clunky bastard to me.

If it was my money, I'd look at something like the Tikka Super Varmint. Comes in all the same chambers and more, cheaper, still has a rail and adjustable cheek piece, but is a much more streamline and IMO comfortable rifle.

To be blunt... Does the same job without all the tacticool bulk IMO.

I was amazed how little recoil they had after looking at one.

I'm pretty recoil shy, but shooting one at the range I had no problems with it :)

That's the muzzle brake working well then :)

Yep, that's the muzzle break at work.

.300 WM is a lot of kick for a new shooter. Too much at all for some. A good brake works wonders though as you felt.

Takes getting used too, that's all.

Not a great cartridge to start out on.

If you only had the money for one rifle and it had to be a 300wm you could always get a HSS muzzle brake to clamp on for the $170 instead of the cost of a smaller calibre rifle.

Take the brake off in time once you're more used to it.
