Some of you might have read a thread on me trying to get some good triggers ( Calvin Elite trigger for Remington Model 700 )

Well, I found a couple of jewel triggers and WOW. Yep, I'm a convert for sure.

I think all my Howa's are about to go for sale just so I can put these triggers on some more rem 700...

That's excellent mate. Was it just the factory trigger you had before?

Good shooting.

If you can nail it down, what about the new triggers is the big difference in shooting better?

You can't complain with that result mate, I love a good trigger too, makes all the diff to group sizes, I don't like them tooo light for spotlighting duties (been there done that) and I found I had to concentrate too much on the trigger as it was super bloody sensitive (Howa set up by the ebay guy) so I had to put some weight back into it, which I find better, but for shooting groups a light trigger is the go.

G'day Scott,

I hear you, but no one and I mean no one use's my firearms .

Under a light on the farms I shoot and I have always been a light trigger bloke so I'm well versed in light triggers. I just wish Jewell made triggers for Howas.

Yeah mate I'm hearing ya, I like em on the lighter side but after that Howa being so sensitive (I mean just brush the trigger and it was off) it was just too hard to use for me, great at the range but just too sensitive for hunting purposes, it caught me out a couple of times over the course of the night and that was enough for me to put a bit of creep/pull weight back into it.

Harbs Coopers have after market triggers in them and I find them a little on the light side too, I guess you could get used to them but they are set for 2oz so bloody light!

yep 2oz is to light for me too unless off the bench but these rifles are for off the sill or bipod long range , for a hunting rifle i like 11/2 to 2lb

Yeah just a tad sensitive at 2oz! I think most of mine are around the 1.2lb now which is light enough for me.

As they say, You don't know what you don't know.

Buying my Anschütz 1416 with the adjustable trigger opened my eyes.

Before that I never thought to change anything on my hunting rifles. Shot a bunch mates rifles as well and found all of them fine.

Set the Anschütz real light and crisp and shot it... That's when ideas of tinkering with the hunting rifles set in

Yep, Anschutz realy know how to make a trigger, and the rest!

First time I pulled an Anie 2 stage match trigger it scared the s**t out of me.

Now I love it, but you wouldn't have one on a hunter.

Most standard hunter triggers are just... just... well just triggers.

I guess that's why there's the after market.

The trigger is the no.1 interface between you and the rifle a very personal thing, it surprises me that good adjustable triggers are not the standard. :geek:

Exactly,

I'm a bit old to hunt much any more so I just thought I'd treat myself to a really good 22 for the range.

Not a proper target rifle but an Anschutz 64 MPR starts to get close.

Out of the box first dry fire (pin removed) was just sooo different from anything I'd had.

But first time at the range it's wasn't a drama the "feel" was unbeleivable, it's like just thinking about releasing the shot and off it goes.

:D

I know that one, and the 1416D Annie.

Impressive shooting... I've seen a guy shooting the Anschutz with the really wide, heavy stock. And heavier barrel too I think from memory.

That's the 'proper' target rifles they make?

At 50m hard to see how it could be much better than the 2 above because they shoot good!
