Remington 700 model differences

Post by Moonshine » 22 Dec 2014, 9:48 pm

Ok lads. I need some info please.

I have been trying to work out what are the differences between remington 700 models as far as barrel and action is concerned.

For example, SPS SF compared to sendero SF.

Besides stock I can not find any other differences between the two models.

Only thing I can see is barrel finish, mat vs polished on the sendero
There's always room for at least one more gun in my safe.

The "Model 700" is the action, which is the same across the board.

They actions all have the same design features... 2x dual-opposed lugs, recessed bolt face, C-clip extractor, 3-piece bolt, plunger ejector, milled receiver... blah blah which define them as a "Model 700".

Then you have your different variations... BDL, CDL, XCR, SPS, VTR, Mountain, CLS, Sendero, Varmint, Target and a bunch of different versions of a few of those too.

What makes the variation is the stock type, material, barrel length, fluting (or not), stainless, blued, integral brake, and all the rest... But they're all around a Model 700 action ;)

Good shootin'!

Thanks for that Tactice,

Just as I thought. All of my research points towards the same information. I think the local shop owner was trying to confuse me in attempt to sell me more expensive rifle. I was after SPS Varmint SF, in 308, as I have spare B & C medalist stock at home, but all he kept saying to me was that's SPS is a budget rifle and it will not be that good for target shooting.

Well I won't be going there again!!

Possibly.

He could also have made the leap thinking/saying the Varmint SF is budget because it has a synthetic stock, only a guess though.

If you're going to drop the barrelled action into a Bell and Carlson Medalist no worries there though :)

Did they have the SPS Varmint SF in stock? Or would they have to order it in?

Selling you what's on the shelf is always the priority.

I've see a few of the 20" SPS Tactical at the range, those things are nail drivers!

They sure did, mate. That's what confused me even further.

He was trying to offload me a Howa that's been dressed up like Christmas tree. I have one of those. They are Ok hunting rifles but that's about it.

Probably just pushing his own bias.

Likes Howa, doesn't like Rem.

If it's on the shelf and you're asking for it he's wasting his own time arguing with you about.

Could have given you yours and been on to the next bloke about a Howa instead.

Maybe he's just a s**t salesman then

It does my head in when salespeople to that.

You say I want that (item on shelf, 1 foot from you) here is my money.

They say nah let me show you these 5 things :wtf:

I didn't ask if I wanted it, I told you I wanted it. Hand it over.
