Straight Triggers

Post by Baldrick314 » 17 Feb 2015, 9:40 pm

I've seen a couple of triggers with a straight bar instead of the usual curved. These are sometimes labeled as "tactical" triggers. Anyone used one? What's the advantage?

Here's one if you don't know what I'm talking about:

It's adjustable for length, lots of Olympic style pistols and rifles have this type of trigger.

The model 501t will not accept a safety.

Mmm. That's interesting... Would have thought the company lawyers or OH&S people would be all over that.

I'm totally guessing at this but seems like it would be uncomfortable unless you had a super light and crisp trigger to just tap for a shot.

A lot of bench rest triggers don't have safeties, no need on the bench cos you only load right before firing.

Thanks for the info Yoshie

Well no... You could load when ever, where ever.

Your point is valid of course, benchrest shooters would just be dropping a round in before the shot and all would be well I'm sure.

Like I said I was surprised the company lawyers didn't leap on it. Or maybe they did and got told to piss off

I assumed (we know how that goes) and even BR rifles had a safety anyway.

Better handling of firearms is what should be taught, not reliant on safeties.

It is something that's out of focus a little more than I'd like here I'll say.

I've heard too many say "this is the safety" and that's the end of the conversation.

Or my favourite.. Turning around to ask if they did good and muzzle sweeping the entire range.

It can also be rotated from side to side to put fire control right where you decide.

Never used a flat trigger but that's interesting.

Never used a rifle with a trigger that could be rotated but I expect that would be beneficial.
