Howa 1500 question

Post by Ade » 03 Mar 2015, 10:09 pm

Are the howa 1500's internal magazine? And is it a simple matter of buying the external kit thing, don't know its name to convert to say ten shot external mag? Anyone here done this?
Thanks

The Howa 1500's do have an internal magazine.
Its easy enough to convert them, I helped a mate convert his. Took us 5 minutes with a screw driver. I haven't done mine as I am considering getting an XLR chassis which would mitigate the need for the mag conversion kit.
Here is a video showing how easy it is :)

No "gunsmithing" required.

Just a few screws.

Seems like a popular mod for the Howa.

Surprised they don't do a factory option :unknown:

The usual one going around is plastic.

There is a steel kit but it's about $400 :?

Rebel Gun Works do both.

$189 plastic.

$390 steel.

The Legacy replacement DBM is plastic and expensive.
The Atlaswerks (which i have) is aluminium ( i think) and takes AI or AI compatible magazines. I have the plastic mags.

Was lucky enough to pick up the bottom metal second hand at a very reasonable price.

Personally think there is room for another competitor in the after market for Howa.
