Nearly sold her, glad I didn't.

I bought this old girl about 6/7 years ago for $350.00, Had a lot of fun with it and got her shooting pretty good, all things considered.
Got a couple of large Billies with it on one trip north.

A couple of reduced/cast loads, and the white three shot group in the middle at the top is 59 gns., 2209, 150 AX. SP. when I could still see.

Anyway, lately the old eye balls seem to be getting worse and worse, and open sight shooting, even with a pair of glasses, is restricted
to 50 yds with a reasonably large (65mm) dot. I don't like not being able to get the best out of something that I know shoots well.

I looked around for a scope mount and bought one, but unfortunately didn't fit without the need to make some
mild adjustments, which I wasn't happy to do.
So I approached an old mate, who offered to make up something that would do the job.
The front of the mount clamps onto the existing site, into the two existing holes, with two pins, so there is elevation adjustment if needed.
The rear did require a threaded hole in the top of the receiver, then the two adjustment screws, visible.
The old 4 x Nikko, which has something floating around inside, and the mount all look "a bit period", with some imagination.

Man she still shoots.
Reduced load, IMR. sr 4579. cheap Highland AX 150gr., SP. :o supprised. at $18.00 per hundred provided I bought 500.
4 shots.

Three with the jacketed, and one to the right with a cast to see where they hit.

Before I got the mount , I tried to sell the rifle, one LGS offered $250.00, didn't go any further,
put it up for sale else where, and didn't get an inquiry.

It's hard enough to get a rifle that shoots great. Never part with one once you've found it IMO.

$250 is hardly going to change your life. Good call on keeping it.

She's Belgian F.N. in 30.06.

I needed a bent bolt, to suit the scope mount, and rather than bend the original, I looked around and picked one up in NSW for $80.00.
Took it up to the local gunsmith so he could head space it, and it was fine.
Can be lucky sometimes.

$80 is a pretty painless custom job.
