Cheers mate.. had a look and very tempted to pick one up in .30-06 was originally looking at a tikka t3 for my .30-06 but this seems like a real bargain..

Anyone own a weatherby s2 in .30-06? Or how they compare to the Tikka t3 lite

Thats a great deal for a Howi(effectively same as a Webbery), I would jump on that, $499, cant go wrong, they are definitely a quality product, very smooth and well finished, assuming theyre still made to the standard of my several yr old 1500.......

There are some super deals at the moment other than this one, all I'd say is to snap them up, dollars just under 80c, will likely not go back to parity or more, in fact 'our leader' have declared that the dollar is over valued, which means theyll do everything to drop in down down down.(recent rate cut...)... 50c to the $US is what they would love to see - translation, expect imports from the US to cost a lot more, twice as much even, that includes guns and associated paraphernalia!!

Never heard anyone want it as low as 50c.

75c seems to be a popular balance between overseas purchasing being affordable to us and being low enough to keep export strong to international buyers.

Could be wrong though....

Yes, indeed it was said in an interview, may have even been Stevens himself or one of the vampire squid bankster associates...referring to an ideal aussie dollar, (ideal for exports - and therefore excise/tax revenue) eff the rest of us who 'consume' probably 90 something % imports...

A floating dollar only advantages the speculators....

The ideal dollar is backed by something, gold, silver, even copper, something to give it SOME tangible value as money as opposed to the currency that we use. Although we have learnt to call the plastic or paper bank notes that we buy 'stuff' with money, it is more correctly termed 'currency'....Money is something that has a tangible value (there more to it than just that too) where the value can not be easily removed at the whim of a bank (or say a government)....

I'd be gobsmacked if it did hey, never know but highly doubt it. They wouldn't be making much on any of these Howa's they are probably getting a deal on accessories or ammo I'd imagine.

I know my LGS only makes around $200 on Sako's and that's before taxes and other running costs (people think they are making a fortune in gun shops) but reality is they ain't.

Some things have good margins of course but generally they have to buy XYZ numbers of rifles or ammo etc to get a decent deal from the wholesalers and hence increase their profit margins, that also requires large sums of $$ being tied up in stock, often borrowed money which of course attracts interest and hence reduced ones margins and paying interest on things that can sit there for some time also eats into one's profit margins - she's a fine line I guess between a decent profit and braking even at times. :unknown:
