Tikka CTR Stainless on the way-New Cals!

Just saw a note that a new range of stainless barreled CTR's is on the way in a few months and the stainless model will come in .243, .260, 7-08 and .308.

Still no long action models but I reckon the .243 will be a big seller, I wonder is a 10 round mag short action .222, .223 and .204R version is in the works

I've just brought a new CTR .308 blued a nice bit of gear but I went to sight it in the other day and it would not fire the pin would strike the primer but not hard enough to ignite it, it is under warranty so I was just wondering if this has happened to any other CTR owners cheers

I was a little surprised they didn't come out with a .223 version of this initially. It seem to me like that would have been very popular.

They're obviously (or so it would seem) sticking to the same cartridge family and just fiddling with the necks to keep production costs down looking at the addition of the .243 and 7mm-08 though.

Well hello :D

If this comes out in 7mm-08 I can see myself replacing my 'backup' .308 Ruger with one.

It would double as a backup and range rifle for me and leave the Fluted Hunter as my field rifle. Then I only have to load for one calibre.

Want

No mate and there's a couple of reasons. Firstly I can't see I need for 10 rounds in a range or hunting rifle when I have 3 5 round mags. Secondly I recently cut down my 7-08 varmint barrel to 20 inches and it still shoots under 2 inchs at 200 m with 120gr, 150gr and 162gr loads at magazine length

Like the look of it, wounder if it will be at the show.
Would a CTR be ok as a range and hunt, I mean will it group good enough at 100 to be happy with?

It'll definitely group and be more than accuracy for hunting ;)

3.4kg without any glass puts it a little on the hefty side might be a complaint from some though.

Compared to say a T3 lite which is 2.8kg.

Feels like .260 is stuck in a bit of a no mans land here in Aus with calibre laws in several states.

Maybe it's just me but it feels like it's a bit too much gun for some things but is too small legally for deer hunting.

I think it will do well with some extra options.

Easily mate, any Tikka in working order will be plenty accurate for hunting.

I'd be perfectly happy with a .260 instead of a .308 here except it's a no go for the 3 deer breeds.

I like the idea of it too Lyam.

I remember reading somewhere the .260 replicates the trajectory of the .300 Win Mag and beyond 600m retains more energy than .300WM!

Now I know most of us aren't shooting deer at anything like that range but surely if it's capable of that, it's going to deck deer at closer ranges?!?! Stupid laws.

Having said that, I'm in Chronos' boat and prob wouldnt buy one. I like the look of it, especially in stainless (I like shiny things), but most of my hunting is walking so weight becomes an issue vs T3 Lite. And am yet to use all rounds in a 5 round magazine let alone 10.

If I lived in or near enough to goat and pig country, one of these in 7-08 would be high on the list.

Do they come in a lefty?
