Been tossing around the idea of a 30-06 or 7mm vs 6.5x55 for now, and a cheap 9.3x62 if I ever get bitten by the Sambar bug. Decisions decisions...

So what do I do? That's right, stopped tossing and bought another older Tikka of course :?
M590 in 22-250Rem

Now to convince myself the gap between the 17Rem and a future 6.5mm+ needed bridging some day anyway :)
Worked a deal and it should arrive Monday. No point beating myself up for buying another tool/toy is there :unknown:

A .30-06 covers everything without mad recoil for the Sambar.

A .22-250 would be a good choice for something smaller. :drinks: :drinks:
Browning BL-22 lever action...open sights
T3 Varmint .204 Ruger...Meopta Meostar 4-16X44
T3 Lite .30-06 Sprg...Aimpoint Hunter 1X red dot

....that will do me

True NE. Having one deer rifle and shooting it often makes allot of sense also. One set of gear and practical.

Unlike buying the 22-250. Should be a blast for a while though and its a big bro to the M55 17rem

Must ..... stop ..... looking ..... at for sale classifieds

There's plenty of gap between .17 and 6.5 for s couple of rifles, hell! I could think of 5 between 6.5 and 9.3

I managed to find room for a .338WM in my safe on the off chance that one of my NT mates invites me up for a buff hunt, can't be caught short can I?

I reckon if you do your research and buy well you can usually sell something you don't use for what you paid for it so what's to loose? But it, shoot it and have fun. That's what it's all about

What's wrong with the 30-06 or 7mm for the Sambar later too :unknown: ;)

true, then I might as well just go with one of those now and save $$$$ or buy something real nice and get my $ worth out of it by shooting it allot instead of two deer cals.

Will work it out.

$355 <- easy choice... be quick

6.5x55 is the wrong gun for vic deer.... and 9.3 more than necessary, not tht 9.3 or 338 or 375 or 458 are not good solutions to the hunters dilemma

Umm am I that transparent :o You have me pegged !!!

Yeah well since the OP my old Tikka habit has been grain fed !!

M590 22-250 rem (+ extra 5 shot NOS mag), and
LSA-55 22-250 rem (+ extra flush fit 3 shot NOS mag from a 2013 ad - rocking horses do poop apparently).
Will probably inspect/clean up and shoot both and choose a keeper. Did the same with two Win model 94 30-30's (a like new 1980 & very tidy 1955). You know which I kept I'm sure.

Just placed a 'Looking For' ad on abusedguns for what I was originally looking for to go with the 40+ E-mails to various dealers Aus wide.

I'm in total control :wtf:

I think you need to think outside the box, there's a tasty Sako Finnbear in 375 H&H just a few ads below yours on the what's new page and the price is inviting also.

And duly noted too. I may need to fatten my shoulder up a tad for that
Tried looking up what he meant by it being an L61R and A111 model. Didn't think it could be both but not to worry.

Maybe this could help?

Thanks Bentaz,
Just got schooled on the model transition from L61R to A111 in 1978-80 and what to look for re serial numbering on bolt v action and bolt shroud vs no shroud etc.

true Steve,
Yeah has the rear sight, was just removed for scope. Not figured wood but nice all the same. Will get to have a look feel shot this week. He hasn't advertised it. Tbh around here Fallow is the target species and a couple of times a year Hog if I get my act together. So leaves room for something bigger later.

Hmmm Sako finnbear 375 h&h  (carbs + protein shakes + bench press + chin ups + push ups + Limbsaver +++ eye relief ! )
