CZ choice

Post by basil brush » 08 May 2015, 9:19 am

Hi

I am a newbie here.

I am looking to buy a 22RL and was set on a CZ452.
I then came acroos a CZ455 which is a good deal on paper.
Is ther any real difference between the two?
I am not really into the nitty gritty of target shooting and fretting over gropings and grains of powder.
I just need a good accuracte bunny buster.

thanks

After almost 20 years I'm still very happy with my cz 452 Classic.

If I had to buy another I'd consider a CZ 455 varmint or just a standard 455, depending on fit and feel. I would want a scope dedicated stock with a high comb but if they have those quick release interchangeable barrels I'd need to think twice.

Apparently there are problems with the action bolt on the 455 and the 452 is the model that every gun shop I have been to Has said to get without question so much so a mate and I just bought 1 each about an hour ago.

Yeah I think the 455 has the interchangeable barrel system, I've heard reports of it not being up to scratch and has issues (can't confirm or deny as I don't own one) but something to look into further if you want to go one of them.

These aren't a bad bunny rifle (Brno Model 2E) if you find a decent one - owned this one since I was a kid. (Smacked that bunny between the eyes at around 80m shooting off the mirror of the 4by using the 4x Jap Tasco Scope which has also been on there from day one. :D

Personally, I've got my heart set on the cz455. I feel that the interchangeable barrels is flexible in the sense that, I've now got 3 guns instead of just one. Almost all of the the reviews I've read and watched about the cz455 is positive.

Thus, that's the rimfire I'm getting once my PTA arrives next week. But the issue is that most shops have them as "out of stock" so the wait is going to be painful.

I'm looking at getting the cz455 .22lr threaded and a 22mag barrel kit. As for scope options I'm still undecided cos there's no one scope that tends to stand out in the reviews so far.

The 452 has a screwed-in barrel, the 455 has a clamp-in interchangeable system. The screw in system ensures a rigid fixing of the barrel to the

action, where a 455 clamp-in must have clearance to allow the barrel to be withdrawn to change calibers, allowing movement between the two

which is detrimental to accuracy.I have Brno 2,Brno 5 and CZ 452 hb,all perform well with appropriate ammo.A well cared for Brno is well

worth a look, hope this is helpful.
