8x57 Factory rounds worth recommending

Post by simmo » 08 Jun 2015, 11:24 pm

G'day All

I have recently added a spanish Mauser in 8x57 to my safe (likely to be first of many  ) and until im kitted out for reloading my own, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any particular brand/make of factory rounds in this calibre that are better than others and worth keeping an eye out for.

Cheers

Norma make them but probably pricy. I'd have a look for some Privy Partisan, the brass is reputed to be good and it's generally not too dear.

My thoughts exactly. By Privi, it also means Highland, all using PPU/NNY brass.

It's worth trying.

People seem to bag the highland a bit as cheap n' nasty but I've seen sub-moa groups with it too.

For off the shelf soft-points you can't complain with that.

There were quantities of 70's and 80's Yugoslavian surplus going around a while back.

Don't discount the old ammo, some of it shoots well ;)

I was at the range with my Annie, and Muddy and his Weihrauch.

I could have thrown them more accurately but his didn't do half bad with them :unknown:
