Anschutz model 1780 centerfire - what do you think of them

Post by KWhorenet » 09 Jun 2015, 9:08 pm

G'day,

Saw an Anschutz model 1780 in 30-06 on usedguns today so went and started reading about them as I have never seen anything barring rimfire and 22H.

Has anyone here got or handled one in the flesh?

Had one in 243 years ago, nice gun, well made and finished as are all Ani's.....the only drawback with them from memory is the barrel is screwed and pinned into the action, making a replacement job next to impossible.

Thanks,

Will have to look into the barrel system further.

Not likely to ever shoot the barrel out barring a mishap of course.

I can't remember if it was .222 or .223 (big difference hey ) but I've used one for a day which belonged to a mate.

Quality was what you would expect from a name like Anschutz. Similar to a walnut Sako 85 and the like.

$2k for a second hand one though..... Hmm.....

would have been nice if it was sent as expected last week, not sitting in the 'to be sent still' pile
as I was informed today by Caboolture Firearms :silent:

Very irritating when you find out after that a company has a 'shipping day' or 'ordering day'.

I've had a few times where I've ordered something on a Monday or Tuesday and called later in the week to then be told they only do orders Monday morning, so you have to wait a week before it even starts. And in the mean time you would have gone somewhere else. :(

oh yeah, cash draw closes with any thought of acting post haste vaporises.

Owens Guns and Caboolture Firearms both didn't send my items for 7 days and 10 days respectively until I asked for tracking numbers.
Got excuses like I was sick, we had a weekend, blah blah.

Got to love the Australian way. Try this on in SE Asia and chop chop !
