Hey everyone looking to pick up a Enfield no 4 mk 1 or above, where does everyone suggest is the best place to look?

Best i've found so far is usedguns.com.au which has a few good ones but nothing that really grabs me yet.

Is the no 4 mk 2 worth it just for the hung trigger?

Whats the supply of 303 ammo like at the moment? my local shops have a few boxes between them in vic

looking for a shooter rather than a safe queen but would rather it not be flogged out.

cheers

I just kept an eye on the used listings on my local gunshop, they move a lot of second hand firearms.

Enfields are usually in their collectibles section.

What do you need fella?? The AA Auction is coming up very shortly... Last time I went I picked up a Lithgow number oneski for an embarrassingly small amount...still had blueing on the wear parts....very pleasing to see the young one break it in...

I'll be looking for a No.4 this time and or a Martini, 303 or 45 or even 12g (dont tell benny boy) ;) :D

How'd you go for ammo....?? there little milsurp, best supply is the PPU commercial (for brass)

Pics of your 4 or it didnt happen ;) :drinks:

The what auction? That sounds awesome!

Sounds like theres a good selection, theres hardly any decent 303's for sale anymore so i have to fix the ones i've got

Ammo's not a problem, factory ppu and reload frok there, got 200 .312 sierra gamekings for a steal at the last militaria show and have s buuunch of surplus tucked away for a rainy day :p

The savage down the bottom is missing a draw from a previous repair but other than that is a real shooter, even has a #2 bolt head

The shiney dark one has something funky going on with the sights and is a re-barrel candidate when i can afford it still shoots good though

The sporter is my go to, its worn as hell but still does the job bit of a practice/project rifle

:drinks:

G'day AusTac,
Jeffs gunshow is on at Altona the weekend after the auction, if you don't have a win there. There are no Enforcers this time around, the one you see is an L42A1, the British Army sniper rifle, the Enforcer was made from L39's. There are also some High Mounts and Low Mounts for the well heeled to bid on, as well as a No4(T) in it's Transit Case. It is my intention to just touch these magic things, as it is as close as I will get to owning one! Cheers.

The no4 mk2, although heavier than the mk1 with its beech stock does offer improved accuracy and can generally be found in much better condition (I found a pair for sale online that were still in the mummy wrap) than the mk1 and mk1*s.

Hi Guys,

I recently got hold of a Nice No4 MK1* that has been post war refurbished.

Mine has No4 MK1 F (FTR) across the top of the left hand side of the receiver with a newer serial number (like the FTR markings) below and next to it the old No4 MK1*

Alot of the info i have read states that No4 Mk1* that were refurb should be marked No4 Mk1/3 (FTR)?

Does anyone know what the different marking means or is it just a minor variance to the name convention?

Which markings? serial number, model number and variation...
Factory Thorough Repair (or refurb, not quite sure on the R)...

I'm sure someone with Skennerton's book/s (should cover it I believe) will describe the variations and repair/mods

If the bore is as bad as you say probably a few hundred at best, but it really depends, post a photo if you'd like

The longbranch no 4's go for slightly more these days
